MillRight CNC machines are manufactured and supported right here in the U.S.A., so you know you’re getting a quality machine and will be able to speak to a real person when you have questions. All of our staff, including technical support, work out of our manufacturing facility in Southwest Georgia. We’ve been making CNC machines since , and key members of the design and production team have several decades of combined manufacturing experience. MillRight CNC started very humbly, with one desktop CNC model being offered out of a garage operation. We quickly grew into a full-scale production operation producing hundreds of unique parts for several different models and supplying our CNC machines to thousands of hobby and business customers in dozens of countries.
Our machine offerings include the Mega V 2, Carve King 2, Power Route Plus, Power Route Max, and Alpha Arc Plasma Table. Some of these come in different sizes and have different options. Let’s dive in and help you understand more about each of them.
The Mega V 2 is our most popular platform. It is fast, rigid, and highly optionable. The Mega V’s steel rack and pinion drive system gives it much faster cutting speed capabilities than the competing brands while still maintaining accuracy for close cut operations, like inlays. This line of machine is best for cutting wood and plastics but is also a reasonable choice for some aluminum and brass work.
The Mega V 2 comes in four sizes: 19×19”, 35×35” (XL), 50×50” (XXL), and 98×50” (Full Sheet). The Mega V 2 19×19” is intended as a desktop CNC. The MV2 XL can be optioned as either desktop CNC or standalone CNC with our leg kit. The MV2 XXL and Mega V 2 Full Sheet come with their own legs as standalone CNC routers. The MV2 has 6″ of Z axis stroke and over 5” of gantry clearance on the 19 and XL, and close to 5.75” on the XXL and Full Sheet.
In addition to giving you choices of size, the Mega V 2 has a range of options for the CNC machine’s bed surface, cutting spindle, and CNC control system.
Bed options include vacuum plenum beds (XL, XXL, and Full Sheet) and aluminum T Plate beds (19” and XL only). Our vacuum plenum beds include threaded hold downs if you aren’t going to vacuum hold your workpiece but give you the added benefit of using vacuum power to firmly hold your sheet goods to the machine’s bed while you cut. Some customers use a shop vac or two plumbed into the ports on the vacuum bed, while others prefer a more industrial solution like our Black Box Vacuum Solutions pumps. Aluminum T Plate beds can be used for clamping sheets, putting vises or other fixtures on the table, and won’t be ruined by coolant sprays since they are aluminum. These are like “T Tracks”, but with several tracks molded into wider pieces of aluminum.
There are many options for the spindle that range from a simple router mount, a 1.5kW ER20 spindle, or a 2.2kW ISO 20 ATC with an 8 position tool trolley. An ATC (Automatic Tool Changer) system allows the machine to work even more autonomously, changing out its cutters from one operation to the next automatically.
The Mega V 2 can also accommodate our rotary 4th axis and lasers.
You have a choice between the GRBL control system or the advanced Masso Touch Screen control system. Read more about the different control systems below.
The Carve King 2 is a great choice for those with limited space or budget that still need a precision desktop CNC solution. The Carve King 2 has a 17×17″ work area with 4” of Z clearance and stroke. It has a lead screw with anti backlash nut on each axis, allowing for surprising accuracy on such a light machine. Unlike all of our other machines that use linear profile rails, the Carve King 2 uses roller V wheels.
This machine is popular with STEM educators, digital manufacturing classrooms, robotics teams, and home hobbyists. To keep things simple, the Carve King 2 does not have any options. Each Carve King 2 comes with a router mount for a Makita RTC router, which you need to obtain separately.
The Carve King 2 is good for CNC cutting wood, plastics, circuit boards, and some light aluminum work.
The Power Route Plus is an excellent option for job shops, tool rooms, production floors, and any other operation that demands very high precision cuts. Each axis features a ball screw drive with powerful motors, enhanced ball screw supports for extra precision, and 20mm linear profile bearing rails for superb rigidity. It comes standard with the Aluminum T Plate Bed that is an option on some of the Mega V 2 models.
The Power Route Plus breezes through wood and plastic. Its real advantage is in aluminum, brass, and even steel. The Power Route Plus has a 24×24” work area with 5.5” of gantry clearance and 6.25” of Z axis stroke.
Options for the Power Route Plus include choices of a router mount or 1.5kW ER20 collet spindle, a rotary 4th axis for cylindrical work, and the basic GRBL control or the advanced Masso Touch Screen control. You can also mount our lasers to the Power Route Plus.
With an over 50×50” work area, you can think of the Power Route Max as the bigger, stronger brother to the Power Route Plus. The Power Route Max uses the same type of ball screws, motors, and linear profile rails but gets beefed up even more in other areas with thick steel paneling and more bracing. It cuts wood and plastics easily and can also cut soft metals and steel with precision. It comes standard with an aluminum T Plate table and coolant mister to make fixturing and cutting metal parts easier. It comes with integrated legs, so this is a standalone CNC router. The Power Route Max is often used in aircraft panel shops, machine shops wanting to move more basic work off their expensive vertical machining centers, or anyone needing precision in a large format CNC.
Spindle options include a basic router mount, a 1.5kW spindle ER20 spindle, a 2.2kW ER20 spindle, and a 2.2kW Automatic Tool Changing spindle with a 10 position tool tray with automatic dust shoe.
Like the Mega V 2, the Power Route Max has the option of the GRBL control or Masso control and can accommodate our 4th axis and lasers.
If you are a serious hobbyist, educator, or professional user that needs a turn-key CNC solution, the Mega V Pro is the way to go. It features the 15″ touch screen Masso control, closed loop motion, tool setter, and aluminum fixture plate bed with over 500 fixturing holes (XL model). This machine is similar to the Mega V 2, with some enhancements to rigidity, ergonomics, and capability. While it is more expensive than the regular Mega V 2 line, it’s an excellent choice for those that need a CNC machine capable of cutting wood, plastic, and aluminum to show up built, extensively tested, and ready to run in a few minutes. The Mega V Pro comes only in two sizes: 19×19″ and 35×35” (XL). The Mega V Pro can be equipped with our rotary 4th axis.
The Alpha Arc Performance Plasma is for when you need a feature packed CNC plasma cutter with the “fabrication shop” level capabilities but a “home shop” style footprint. It has a 50×50” work area and has tons of impressive standard features like the Masso control, torch height control, water table, breakaway detection, and two styles of plate detection. If paired with the optional Hypertherm 45 SYNC, you can cut steel, stainless steel, and aluminum very quickly.
While a CNC plasma cutter can’t hold the tight tolerances of a machine like the Power Route Max, you can cut them as much as 25 times faster than they can be milled.
Options include the Hypertherm Powermax 45 SYNC, a pipe cutter attachment, and a ballast system for the water table.
Whether you select the GRBL or Masso control system, your machine will come to you with the electronics pre-wired and tested with all the motors, switches, and drives needed to run your MillRight CNC machine.
The GRBL system requires you to connect your computer to the machine via a provided USB cable. From there, you use an interface program (available for free from us or others – read more about this later) like Universal G Code Sender to connect to the machine and run files. While the GRBL system is more of a hobby level control system, it’s still powerful and well-developed control firmware with perhaps hundreds of thousands of machines being run by GRBL throughout the world. We still sell CNC machines with the GRBL control system to large companies running daily machining operations. This is commonly used by our competitors as well. It’s a good basic control system.
The Masso G3 Touch system is an advanced motion control system with a 15” touch screen display that allows for Wi-Fi connectivity, faster processing, and more sophisticated control. Each Masso system we sell comes with a tool setter for zeroing your tools quickly and a jog MPG handwheel (a wired remote control). The Masso system is popular among business customers and serious hobbyists because it is extremely dependable, sophisticated yet still easy to use, and has more I/O capabilities for controlling other accessories that may be installed. Note that the automatic tool changer option is only available to you if you select the Masso G3 Touch Control System. The GRBL system will NOT run the automatic tool changer.
The optional 4th axis uses a 4 jaw chuck on the headstock to outside clamp cylindrical, square, or rectangular parts up to 2.75″ in diameter and can inside clamp (such as on a pipe) up to a 3″ inside diameter. It features a planetary gearbox on the headstock that multiplies the torque of the NEMA 23 motor five times and equally increases the resolution. The 4th axis system also comes with an independent tail chuck on bearing sliders that can be placed any distance from the headstock to allow you to machine cylindrical parts then easily unclamp and re-clamp the next part. This accessory is ideal for parts such as chair spindles, baseball bats, chess pieces, statuettes, and other parts similar to what a lathe would make.
The Power Route Max and all sizes of the Mega V 2 can be equipped with our Automatic Tool Changer (ATC). Our ATC spindle is a water-cooled, 220V 2.2kW ISO 20 taper with a pneumatically operated drawbar and built-in sensors that monitor tool release and capture as well as temperature monitoring technology. This is a real pneumatically-operated ATC, and not like some of those systems others try to use that rely on the spindle’s torque to insufficiently tighten the collet nut and abuse the spindle by slamming it to dead stops. Our style of ATC has been proven in industry for decades. Our ATCs just work reliably every time to make it a truly automated CNC experience.
The Power Route Max and Mega V 2 differ in how the tools are parked when not in the spindle. The Mega V 2 uses our Automatic Tool Trolley positioned at the front of the machine. When a tool change is commanded, the cover is retracted, and the tools are raised into range of the spindle. It accommodates 8 tools. The Power Route Max has a stationary tool bank on the left side of the machine that accommodates 10 tools.
The Masso Control System option is required to run the Automatic Tool Changer. Note that the Automatic Tool Changer needs 5 CFM of clean, dry air at 95 PSI to operate properly.
Any of our CNC routers or CNC plasmas can be turned into a CNC laser. We offer the JTECH 7W Plus and JTECH 64W Pro with all the cabling and mounting brackets needed to integrate the laser directly to your MillRight CNC machine. The provided mounting bracket allows the laser to be mounted to the machine without removing your router or spindle. A magnetic disconnect on the back of the laser allows you to remove the laser and stow it away when you are ready for CNC routing operations again without any turning any fasteners, so you are only a matter of moments between cutting with your spindle and using your laser.
The 7W Plus is great for engraving wood, leather, and colored acrylics. With its fine resolution, it’s great for things like engraving photos, too. If you want to cut through materials instead of just engraving them, the 64W Pro should be considered instead.
The 64W Pro is a serious laser system, with optical output exceeding even many CO2 systems. This is a 3-in-one system, allowing you to select between engaging all twelve of the built-in diodes into one powerful 64 watt beam, a middle power 44W setting, and a fine detail 24W. Cut through materials such as wood, colored acrylic, and MDF with this laser at up to ¾” thick. You can also use it to burn paint, anodizing, and powder coat from metal surfaces. It can make a light etch on steel but won’t cut all the way through it. The 64W Pro is intended to be used with an air blast. We recommend supplying compressed air to the air blast port on the laser from either a compressor or an aquarium pump. This both keeps the laser cool and enhances the cut.
MillRight CNC is a CNC hardware company first and foremost. We’ve chosen NOT to box you into just one software solution. Most CNC software will work with a MillRight CNC machine, and each can have its own advantages.
To understand the software choices, it’s first important to understand what is called the “software toolchain” in CNC. First there is “CAD” where you design the part. This is either done by importing an existing file or designing it yourself (it’s like drawing, but with a computer). Next, there is “CAM” where you toolpath the design. Toolpathing is just telling the software what cutting tool you want to use to mill out a feature and how fast you want that tool to go through the material. Finally, there is the control interface where you give commands to the machine to move, and from where you run your cutting “G Code” program.
All of the CAD programs we will discuss in more detail below are combination CAD/CAM programs, meaning they perform both of those functions in a single piece of software.
Easel Pro
Easel Pro is the easiest to use CNC software available. It was designed with the beginner in mind, but over the years has become very feature rich which capabilities like 3D carving. Adding to its ease of us is the fact that (with a 3 axis GRBL control system specifically), Easel is every part of the software toolchain. Design your part or import one of its thousands of free designs, toolpath it, then connect to the machine and start running your project. Those with the Masso control can still use Easel but can only use it for the design and tool pathing portions of the software tool chain. Those customers will use the Masso itself as the control interface.

Fusion 360
Fusion 360 is an excellent choice for designing and tool pathing mechanical parts. Creative people can successfully make artistic pieces with it as well. We do not sell Fusion 360, but we do use it for designing our machines and tool pathing on them, as well as tool pathing for them on our large industrial machines. Fusion 360 can be downloaded from Autodesk. They provide free personal use licenses, a $150 3 year start-up business license for those making less than $100k/year, and free educational licenses. Commercial customers should use the proper paid license for the use of the software. Vectric
We are an authorized Vectric dealer and offer some of their diverse software line. There are three things that you should know to better understand the Vectric software choices. First, Vectric software is unique in that it is NOT on a subscription model. In other words, once you pay for it, you own it forever. Next, Vectric divides most of their software into “Desktop” and “Pro” versions. Desktop versions of the software are limited to 24”x24” designs. Pro versions of the software have unlimited work areas and usually include a few extra features like nesting to maximize your material yield. Lastly, Vectric programs are both the CAD and CAM part of the toolchain. They also have a Control Interface built into the software called V Transfer for connecting to GRBL controller machines. While you can use V Transfer as the Control Interface with a GRBL controller, we’d recommend you check out some of the other free Control Interface options we’ll discuss below.
Vectric Cut2D is good for 2.5D projects. Think of 2.5D projects as one where all the work is done at discrete depths in the material. For example: Cutting a pocket ½” deep and then cutting the entire 1” board all the way out. If you need to make simple parts or signs, this is a good choice. We sell Cut2D Desktop in our store.
Vectric VCarve can do everything Cut2D can and more. With VCarve, you can make 3D carvings from existing 3D models and even incorporate them into a larger design, perform rotary 4th axis work, and perform intricate V Carvings and photo VCarvings. We offer both VCarve Desktop and VCarve Pro in our store.
Vectric Aspire takes everything Cut2D and VCarve can do and adds 3D modeling, allowing you to create your own custom 3D carvings. You also get advanced sculpting and blending tools within the software so you can refine your 3D designs. Aspire is great software, but more than the average user needs. If you do need the extensive features Vectric Aspire offers, we sell it in our store.
All Vectric programs require a Windows PC but do not need an internet connection after the software is installed and registered.
LightBurn
While you can use the above programs to create laser engraving and cutting toolpaths, they usually aren’t designed exclusively for laser operations. Lightburn is very affordable program with a one time license fee program that excels at laser work. We don’t sell it, but we do own it and use it.
Other CAD/CAM Programs
Because MillRight CNC serves so many industries, we see a lot of other software in used with our machines. Other examples of software often used with our machines are SolidWorks, Mastercam, and Carveco. If you don’t see a “GRBL” or “Masso” post processor when saving your G code file, you’ll often find a Mach 3, Mach 4, Generic, or Fanuc post processor that will work as well.
If you have a Masso control system, the control interface software is built into it. If you have one of the CAD/CAM programs discussed above and the Masso control, you have every piece of the CNC software toolchain covered.
If you have a GRBL control system and you are using something other than Easel Pro, you’ll also need to load a free control interface program onto your computer. We prefer that you use our version of Universal G Code Sender found on our resources page, but there are many other free programs such as gSender and OpenBuilds Control that are designed to work with GRBL systems as well that we welcome you to try. Keeping with our mentality of not boxing you into one program, you can use many different CNC Interfaces with the GRBL system.

Gantry CNC machines occupy a critical niche in modern fabrication: they combine industrial-scale work envelope capacity with precision milling, routing, and cutting capabilities that bridge the gap between benchtop routers and full-size machining centers. Unlike fixed-table CNCs, gantry systems move the spindle over a stationary workpiece—making them ideal for large-format materials like sheet metal, aluminum plate, MDF panels, composite signage, and architectural millwork. Yet selecting the right one is rarely about “bigger is better.” It’s about matching structural integrity, motion control, thermal stability, and software integration to your specific production demands—not vendor brochures or headline specs.
Start not with horsepower or travel dimensions—but with what you’ll actually cut, how often, and to what tolerance. A shop producing custom aluminum enclosures for electronics needs different performance than one carving 4×8-foot decorative wall panels from high-density urethane. Misalignment here leads to overspending on unnecessary rigidity—or underspending and facing premature wear, chatter, and scrap.
Ask yourself three diagnostic questions:
Rigidity determines everything else: vibration damping, feed rate sustainability, tool life, and long-term accuracy retention. A flexible gantry flexes under cutting forces—causing deflection, poor edge quality, and accelerated wear on linear guides and ball screws. Look beyond frame weight; examine construction methodology.
Key indicators of true rigidity:
Real-world consequence: A poorly braced gantry may achieve 0.02 mm repeatability when idle—but drift 0.12 mm under sustained 3 mm depth-of-cut aluminum milling due to thermal expansion and elastic deformation.
Many buyers fixate on rapid traverse rates (e.g., “60 m/min!”), but acceleration, deceleration control, and micro-step resolution matter more for contouring accuracy and surface finish. Here’s what separates reliable motion systems:

Spindle specs are routinely overstated. A “15 kW air-cooled spindle” may only sustain 8–10 kW continuously without overheating or bearing degradation. Prioritize duty cycle ratings—not peak power.
Essential spindle evaluation criteria:
No gantry CNC operates in isolation. Its value multiplies—or collapses—based on how well it integrates with your design, nesting, and shop-floor workflow. Avoid “black box” controllers that lock you into proprietary CAM or obscure post-processors.
A mature software stack includes:
Precision Metalworks upgraded from a gantry router to a new 3.5 m × 2.0 m system for fabricating aerospace-grade aluminum brackets. Their old machine used stepper motors, lead screws, and a closed-loop Windows-based controller. Choosing the best gantry CNC machine isn’t about chasing the highest spec sheet number—it’s about engineering alignment. It means matching mechanical intelligence (rigidity, thermal management, motion fidelity) to your actual work—not theoretical maximums. It means valuing open software, service accessibility, and long-term stability over flashy marketing claims. Every component—from the base weldment to the spindle bearing preload—should answer a specific production need you’ve documented and validated.
